CIMR is the executive wing of All Kerala Association for the Mentally Retarded (AKAMR) which is a society registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955 with registration No. is ER-411/1980.
CIMR is a Premier institute working towards the welfare and total development of the Mentally Challenged persons, for the last 45 years. During the last 45 years CIMR has developed a system of education namely Three Cs. This system is based on shapes and colours and was developed through research, application and refining through experiments during the past years. The institute was founded by Rev. Fr. Thomas Felix CMI a philanthropist and an internationally acclaimed special educator of the intellectually challenged in 1980.
CIMR is Kerala’s premier institute, dedicated to educational excellence and meaningful community interaction since 1980. Founded by the committed and renowned special educator, Rev. Fr. Thomas Felix CMI, CIMR took a pioneering role in fostering a supportive environment for children with special needs, focusing on children with intellectual disabilities and other associated conditions.
Our involvement is not restricted to the confines of class rooms, as we actively contribute to shaping a society where every individual, regardless of their abilities, can develop and become meaningful contributing members of the society.
During our committed pursuit of service, we have developed strong partnerships with communities, parents and professionals. CIMR travelled beyond traditional education methodologies, developed its own educational pedagogy that transcends the barriers of language and culture and ensured that it suits to meet the unique needs of each student.
With our vast experience in the past, we look towards future, to continue to be a beacon of hope, catalyst for change for the intellectually challenged. Our mission extends beyond education, to be a meaningful hub for livelihood practices.
